.: Feline Breast Cancer ~ MAGIC'S STORY :.
As those of you who follow me know...I own two cats.
Tinkerbell and Magic...who I take pictures of often!
Two cats that I consider "my babies!" I just wanted to
share MAGIC'S story with you, because until it happened
to "MY" animal, I wasn't aware that Breast Cancer could
occur in cats!
</a>
Around Thanksgiving I took my black cat, Magic to the vets
because she had developed a large growth on one of her teats.
Magic is not the kind of cat that liked to be picked-up.
She loved to be "on me", and lay in my lap...but she didn't
like to be handled. (I think this has something to do with her
being a stray and maybe she was mishandled by her
previous owners!) But, to make a long story short...
Magic was diagnosed with Breast Cancer,
and the only way to remove it is a radical
mastectomy of all three teats on the right side, which would
than need to be followed up with chemotherapy. And even with
ALL those procedures, they couldn't guarantee me that the
cancer would be gone or that it hadn't spread to any other
part of her body! So, with this information in hand...I made
a very hard decision, and opted against a very expensive
and painful surgery, and just bring her home to live out the
rest of whatever time she has left on this earth...
in her home with those who loved her!
I wrote this to enlighten other cat owners. I was NOT aware
that Breast Cancer was the third largest killer of felines. And,
if this story makes you "pet" your cats belly and feel for
unusal lumps...than Magic's story has
contributed to this awareness!
Please, "pet" your cats, "feel" for lumps...
and my Magic wears her "Breast Cancer Awareness"
pink collar with pride!

prevent this terrible disease! </b>.: Feb. 13th ~ MAGIC UPDATE :.
Today, is a really sad day for me. My heart literally hurts, because today I lost my constant companion of 11 years, my baby, MAGIC...who's brave fight with Breast Cancer ended early this morning, the 13th day of February. The time finally came where I had to make the decision to end her pain and suffering...and just let her go peacefully! Magic would have fought till the bitter end to stay with "her" family, even though the cancer was ravaging her tiny body! So, it was "our" final gift to her...to just let her go quietly and in peace, with her loved ones holding and petting her...which is exactly what happened!
I love and miss you so much, MAGIC...Rest in Peace, baby!
"Until we meet again..."
