I recieved a set of extension tubes as a present...and I am THRILLED! Now, I just have to figure out how they work! Yikeeees! ;)

This is a "close-up" picture of Phalaenopsis white Moth Orchids taken at the Belle Isle Anne Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory ~ Detroit, Michigan ~ Orchid Exhibit.

This conservatory is listed as the oldest conservatory in the United States.

Holy crap! :jawdrop:

That is totally beautiful! The pure white background petals are awesome!

I'm jealous, I want to take a pic of that, too!
I think you've already got those extension tubes figured out by the looks of this photo! Beautiful shot! Excellent composition and DOF, and the tonal range of the white petals (which is quite hard to effectively achieve) is dead on. BRAVO!!

This is really gorgeous! Those extension tubes definitely look like they work well, about how expensive are they, if you don't mind me asking that is? This is a gorgeous picture, and I love how the white looks like a canvas and the beautiful orchid center just looks so amazing!

I would appreciate any pointers you can give me on my art and photography!
I'm sure the extension tubes will work better once I get the hang of it. Also, I would like to try them while using a tripod...I think that will help alot!

As far as the price, I'm not sure...as I said, they were a Chritmas gift! However, a very good friend and DD photographer by the name of ericthom57 (he's in my friend's) wrote and fantastic article called "Marco on the Cheap". I have the article saved as a :+fav: but it is not showing up on my page...however, check his page out and the article. I'm sure he would be happy to answer any questions you might have!

Thank you so much for the comment...those NEW extension tubes seem to make a HUGE difference in shooting!
Now, to take THAT picture you will need a heavy parka and snow boots...because it snowing like crazy here in Michigan. Ohhhhhhhh! When will it ever stop! hehe!
But then again, you seem to be doing a BEAUTIFUL job on orchids yourself....right where you are!

Have you ever used a macro lens? (I'm not talking about a closeup filter) If you did, how are the tubes as compared to the macro lens?

And, OMG! What gets me about that orchid, it the purity of the white on it! And the lighting is perfect! Was that ambient light, or do you have a closeup flash?

Thanks, on my flowers pics, but I need to get an umbrella or something, because my lighting is lacking, right now.
I do so envy people who can take amazing shots like this. It's superb!
